Clinking of glass and ice mingled in with contemporary music playing in the background as patrons enjoyed each other’s company, whether they were planned or not. The pace of orders was going at a steady rate which wasn’t unusual for a considerably modest sized crowd that was here tonight up at the bar. A listless bored look was what Lani was wearing on her face as she stood there behind the bar, drying the same glass for what seemed to be for ten minutes. It was rather unusual for her to wear such an expression during her shift, but there were some reason to her lifeless mood. First the customers here at the Skybar this evening were all off in pairs or more, chatting away without a care in the world. Second of all was that her landlord had raise her rent and it was due by the end of the week, which was a week before her payday. Then lastly her roof began to leak again last night from the tenant above her flooding their bathroom. With an aphetic sigh she set down the polished glass with a light clink against the bar surface while running options through her head on what to do now. Should she find another job that’ll pay her before the end of the week or just find a new and cheaper place without a shitty landlord? Neither seemed possible as she had no idea how to fit in another job or find another cheap place on such a short notice. Unless she was able to find a roommate already with an apartment, but who does she know that she could pestered to move in with? No one came into mind. And back to square one it was. Again another sigh as Lani leaned back against the back cabinet that was filled with different bottles of liquor and wine. Tonight the bartender needed someone to talk with to get her mind off of things or a good cigarette right now. [/style] |
